LAMANRIAU.COM, PEKANBARU – The Port Health Office has activated a heat detector to monitor every passenger coming from abroad at Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport (SSK II) in Pekanbaru City, Riau, in anticipation of the corona virus outbreak.
“Every time we arrive from overseas, we monitor every passenger,” said SSK II Airport Health Office Coordinator (KKP), Albert Jenson in Pekanbaru, Sunday (1/26/2020).
The heat detector (thermo scanner) is placed at the entrance of the international arrival terminal. The hardware is a camera that reads every person who passes so that their body condition is clearly visible on the monitor screen. The device does not cause a passenger queue because the detection is done automatically.
“If found suspect, our actions will coordinate with related parties such as the health department and hospital,” he said.
He said up to now there had not been detected passengers from overseas who were suspected of suffering from the deadly virus.
“Until now no one has stated suspect corona,” he said.
A new type of corona virus outbreak in China, which attacks the lungs, has increased to 52 by this Sunday. In fact, three Beijing doctors tested positive for being infected after returning from Wuhan, Hubei Province, as the first area to find the case.
The corona virus has spread to other regions, and several countries have also detected cases that are cross-territorial. Countries with corona viruses include Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Canada, Taiwan, Australia, France, Japan, Vietnam, South Korea, Nepal and the United States.
He said planes that were direct from China had no route to Pekanbaru Airport. However, there are international flight routes from neighboring countries in Pekanbaru.
“Pekanbaru in particular there are no direct flights from China. The planes here are from Kuala Lumpur, Malacca, Subang, Malaysia and also Singapore,” Albert Jenson said. (tpc)
